These Witches Don't Burn, follows Hannah, a girl who enjoys art, has an amazing family, and an annoying ex. The only thing that makes her different is that she is a witch that can control the elements. Set in Salem, Hannah must work quick when something new and deadly comes to time. Will she solve the mystery in time, or will she lose everyone and everything she loves. I loved this book. It is so refreshing to read this book that has action and mystery while also being openly queer. I love that this book can be queer and not focus on coming out or people's negative reactions. Its just a book that happens to feature a gay woman. I related to Hannah in a lot of ways which made this book so easy to fall into and get lost in. It is one of those books where I felt like I was watching it play out before me, not reading it. It has mystery and romance and comedy and suspense and a plot twist at the end that beautifully strings this whole book together. I really loved this book and I can't recommend it enough. This book includes some harder topics and is intended for an older audience. I would recommend this book and it's sequel and prequel to those 15 and up. There is mention of sex, murder, car accidents, fires, and more. This was the book I needed, as a queer woman myself. It can be a bit hard to find books with characters I can relate to but this book did a wonderful job. It left me in shock and smiling with pure gay joy. If you are looking for a good mystery, fantasy, or lesbian love story, I highly recommend this book to you.
